Keeping up with accessibility standards: strategies for small & mid-sized journal publishers

Join the webinar Sept 23 at 11 AM ET!

New legislation has brought accessibility to the forefront of scholarly publishing, including the European Accessibility Act and forthcoming updates to ADA Title II regulations, both of which mandate that digital content conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. For many publishers, this means shifting from approaching accessibility improvements as long-term goals to approaching them as core publishing criteria.

Given the technical nature of accessibility standards, this is an area where publishers and vendors will need to work together to fulfill current requirements, with the opportunity to collaborate on approaches to embed accessibility into publishing systems and practices. During this GW Ethics in Publishing Conference satellite webinar, publishing stakeholders will discuss:

   • Advice for publishers early in the process of building out accessibility support for their content

   • Practical strategies for embedding accessibility best practices into journal workflows in the near and long term

   • The role of publisher and vendor partnerships in advancing towards "accessible by design" software and processes

There will be time for Q&A following the presentation!
